Creative Window Coverings
Filed under Great Window IdeasFeb 27
There is no simpler or dramatic way to totally transform the look of a room than to change the window coverings. You can do this by buying new Venetian blinds or window shades but probably the cheapest way is to simply change the curtains.
One of the least expensive window coverings is achieved by simply removing the current curtain rod and replacing it with a new one. You can forget about buying rails and all that jazz. The simplest and most modern looking window coverings are simply swaths of fabric that hang from pinch clips. Pinch clips are hoops, which like clothespins, grip the edge of the fabric and allow you to hang any kind of drape or material (hemmed or unhemmed) from the curtain rods. One very popular look is to simply buy a very fancy wrought iron or aluminum rod and then hang white hemmed sheets from it that have been hemmed. You still get that romantic billowing look without the expense of spending money on prefabricated drapes. You can also sew your own drapes using any fabric that tickles your fancy, including eyelet, cotton, satin, velvet or sheers. Many fabric stores also sell ropes, tassels and ribbons that can be used as tiebacks for the curtains. There are also curtains and window coverings available that don’t require any type of clip. These curtains come with fabric loops that easily slide along the curtain. These curtains, which come in a variety of designs and fabrics, are very inexpensive but you can also make your own by attaching your own loops to fabric. One handy feature is to have each fabric curtain loop fastened with buttons or Velcro to make the curtain easy to remove from the rod for washing.
You can also make your own window coverings out of specialty papers. These are transparent window blinds that are made from rice paper. Some of these papers are absolutely beautiful and feature details such as glitter, leaves or threads pressed right into mesh of the paper fibers. To make the curtain all you have to do is attach it to pinch clips. If you buy these in the store they are usually quite expensive especially if they are decorated with a motif pattern or a design as they are considered to be a bit haute couture.

Another way to personalize your decor is to paint your Venetian blinds. Simply take a stencil and spray-paint one solid design on the closed Venetian blinds. A stencil of a favorite motif or symbol and a can of spray-paint can also be used to embellish simple roll down blinds as well.
Always remember that your window coverings can help make the style of your room look more casual or more formal depending on what style you use. The more fabric, swags and pleats there are to your curtains, the more formal the room will look. The simpler your window treatment is, as would be the case with rice paper roll blinds or a single sheer hung from a curtain rod, the less formal the entire effect will be.

Blinds for Doors
Filed under Great Window IdeasFeb 26Discover the different kinds of blinds, how to select the best window blinds for your needs and where to find them.
Sliding doors are generally the most troublesome things to deal with when it
comes to window coverings. These doors will often require a custom window covering – a type of window covering that is only good for sliding doors. Window coverings for sliding doors are window coverings that are exclusively made to fit the glass panels that many sliding doors are made of. When you purchase coverings for most windows it is not troublesome, providing you have the right dimensions, to get them ready made from the local store. With sliding doors, this is not possible as they come in many shapes and sizes and the way that they are made needs a custom made window covering. If you need window coverings for your sliding doors then probably the best place to get them is online. You may also have a shop in your area that is an expert in custom made window coverings. Better yet, check out these great blinds today online!
One of th
e best advantages of window coverings for your sliding doors is that because they are custom made, they have to be measured and fitted by an expert. Expert measuring not only means that you will have the right size of covering for your sliding doors; you may also find that the person who does the measuring will be able to educate you on the best type of window covering and even the color and fabric that will suit your house. Many people may opt to have custom made vertical blinds for their sliding door windows as these are the most practical for sliding doors.
While there are many advantages to custom made window coverings, they can also have some downsides too. When you purchase window coverings for any other window you will have a much wider range of color, fabric and styles. Window coverings for sliding doors are usually a lot more expensive than coverings for other windows in the house simply because they are custom made to fit a particular window. Fabric window coverings for sliding doors will be cost a bit higher than a vinyl or woven material.
While it is possible to get window coverings somewhat cheaply if you browse around. You can expect to spend between $175 and $200. On the positive side most of these window coverings should come with a limited lifetime warranty, which will save you money in the long run.

Vertical Mini Blinds Idea
Filed under Budget Window CoveringsFeb 25Thanks to modern enhancements in product designs, many problems that we could not resolve in the past can now be resolved by using window blinds. In particular, vertical blinds allow us privacy in our homes, while offering us the ability to regulate the amount of sunlight that streams into our rooms. It is possible that difficulties may occur with window blinds, but for the most part they are beneficial.
Maybe there is a lovely view that should not be hidden or even an interesting window that you’d rather not hide. It is possible you don’t wish to go through the hassle of turning on electrical lights each time you close your window blinds, but you still want to manage the lighting of the room. Let us examine some common problems associated with vertical blinds and find an appropriate solution.
Sometimes there is a lovely view from a particular window that we do not want to hide. Maybe your home has a wooded area behind it or a lovely garden that you enjoy seeing. Your house could have the gorgeous floor to ceiling glass windows that provide you with a picturesque view of perhaps a bay, an ocean, or maybe a golf course. You need not fear that window blinds could take you away from that lovely view you have through your window. One solution to this problem is getting vertical blinds that stack to the sides of the windows. They give you a beautiful look when they’re in the window and are virtually invisible when they’re drawn to the sides. It is a good choice because fabric vertical blinds make significantly less noise when moving with the wind, either natural or from your air conditioner. To ensure that the window blinds are not blocking the windows, order the vertical blinds a wider than the glass segment of the walls if you have walls next to your windows.
Perhaps you have a space that benefits from a good breeze. This breeze could be from constant foot traffic, an open window, or possibly a powerful air conditioner. You will find that vertical blinds made of plastic or metal tend to make a lot of noise when they move. As we have stated, vertical blinds made of fabric are much less noisy. They are a perfect solution for areas that can be a problem.French doors are very appealing features in any home. When you hang vertical blinds on them though, you can experience an enormous amount of swinging. Thi
s may cause problems with tangling that could ultimately lead to the deterioration of the blinds. With French doors, holdbacks, which attach to the walls for tying the blinds back to the wall, would be a good choice if available. While using your French doors, tiebacks will keep your beautiful window blinds from moving. Making certain that your window blinds are larger than the doors will ensure that they will completely clear the aperture when they are moved to the side and permit effortless access to the openings.Last but not least, everyone has those windows that are really hard to get to. The window blinds you decide on are not the issue with these windows; it is the accessories you choose to go with them. With windows like these, extra long cords and chains are something you might consider. Keep in mind that these chains and cords could take away from the beauty of your rooms, and may even be a safety hazard. Remote controls may be a good idea if you can’t reach the controls to your window blinds.
Wonderful and attractive windows blinds can be fitted to even the most difficult sized windows. Many issues could arise when selecting window coverings due to skylights, eyebrows, arches, and possibly even portal windows. Imagination and some accessories can change the whole picture. Do not worry if you have a view that you would like to keep, or a window in a strange place. It’s still possible that it can be fitted with a vertical blind. Furthermore, without producing supplementary issues, window blinds can be the answer to your problems.

Discount Vertical Blinds
Filed under Budget Window CoveringsFeb 25Decorate and manage home offices with window blinds. Your office will look modern and sophisticated, and you may decide to install vertical blinds throughout the rest of your home! They bring either modern or classical looks to your rooms, depending on the rest of your room decorating.
Vertical blinds are widely used in office buildings and apartments. They look professional, and cover all types of window sizes, especially tall or
extra wide windows. For medical or dental offices, these excellent and easy to manipulate window blinds can add privacy to rooms but still allow light to enter. For busy city areas, and apartment or condominium complexes, vertical blinds coordinate entire developments with a uniform look, as most window blinds do. In these more crowded living areas, this type of window blind is useful for privacy, because even when slats are adjusted fully perpendicular to the window, you have floor to ceiling coverage. For home offices, vertical blinds help set up a professional atmosphere, and bring privacy to the area protected by the window blinds. They are easy to clean and maintain, and help with sound control and energy cost reductions. Dust is reduced because it clings less to the vertical surfaces. If you use window blinds made with fabric coverings, you will have additional sound insulation as well as heat control.
As a decorating bonus, vertical blinds are very affordable, and are available in many stock colors and fashions. Order them custom made with special fabrics to coordinate with existing room design or redesign. In older homes with old-fashioned tall windows, vertical blinds can bring a modern look and ease of operation to the unusual spaces. For preventing drafts and heat gain or loss, vertical blinds are very useful. You can control light and heat by adjusting or fully closing the slats. When closed, they can be room darkening, because they are dense and can be ordered in dark colors or fabrics, or wood.
For those wanting an environmentally friendly lifestyle, vertical blinds are a g
ood investment. They are durable and help prevent dust build up, and are easy to wipe clean. You can use window blinds to reduce electrical and heating and air conditioning bills. For entertaining, vertical blinds can become a focal point in a room, with their size and impact. Vertical blinds are usually used on very large windows, tall or wide, and hence they do cover a considerable part of a room wall area.Vertical blinds can also be used on small windows, and they can either fit the window or be mounted outside the frame and run longer than the window height for an enlarging effect. The slats are pulled to either side, or from the middle out, and they line up at one or two sides of the window. Mounting outside the window frame allows you to have a full window view when the blinds are open because the group can be gathered all the way over to the side.
Purchase stock vertical blinds at most home stores or online websites that specialize in blinds and window coverings. You can have them cut to the lengths you need at no extra charge. All vertical blinds come with a matching valence for the top that hides the operating mechanism and parts. Blinds are easily manipulated with a short wand at the top of one side.
You can decorate your home office with colorful vertical blinds, or window blinds covered in fabric to match the other room decor. By adjusting slats to the side or straight out from the window, you control the amount and type of sunlight that comes into the room. The quieting effects of fabric covered blinds help create a peaceful environment in which to do your work.

Arched Window Blinds
Filed under Colored Mini BlindsFeb 9
Arched windows are becoming accepted accents for many modern homes. These small, semi-circle windows are commonly seen above doors to allow more natural sunlight to enter your home. Arched windows add an artistic touch to a home’s design and more and more new people are installing these rather than traditional, straight window frames, creating a massive interest for arched window blinds.
Blinds for arched windows are custom made to the different window sizes and will blend with most designs of window blinds. Just like all window blinds, those created for arched windows are available in heaps of styles, colors and sizes.
Types of Window Blinds for Arched Windows
– Pleated Arched Blinds are available in many colors, including soft neutrals as well as brilliant, modern blues, greens and reds. These blinds for arched windows are beautiful with a posh look.
– Wooden arched blinds offer a more permanent window treatment option for your arched windows. Wood blinds usually have individual slats that can be moved to redirect light and are more expensive than other types of blinds for arched windows.
– Cellular arched shades are greatly fashionable because of their fine look and ability to block direct sunlight without stopping all natural light. These window blinds are also available in many colors and sizes, complementing traditional cellular window blinds.
New types of blinds for arched windows are introduced each day to keep up with the growing number of homes using these modern window styles. Most window blind companies can provide custom fit arched blinds to suit any traditional window blind.
Advantages of Blinds for Arched Windows
Window treatments are an simple way to add a personal touch to your home or just to enhance your decorating theme. Window blinds not only add flair to your home’s interior, they are also somewhat functional.

Arched windows look wonderful in your home and allow additional light to enter the house without interfering with your privacy, but they can also cause unnecessary glares and additional heat in the summer. Covering your arched windows with custom fit window blinds will allow you to adjust the amount of light that shines in.Many blinds for arched windows operate on a remote control to make it convenient to open and close the blinds, even if the arched window is installed several feet above the floor. With a remote, you can open your blinds to allow the morning’s first light to shine in and then simply press a button to close the blind when the heat of the afternoon sun warms the room.
Disadvantages of Blinds for Arched Windows
While blinds for arched windows are marvelous accents for your home and are very helpful for managing the light and temperature within your home, they can be difficult to clean. Most window blinds can be troublesome to keep free of dust and dirt, but those for arched windows are often located much higher so the task is even more tedious.
The other primary downfall of deciding to cover your arched windows with blinds is finding the right size for your window. Arched windows are many inconvenient sizes and these types of blinds are typically only offered at specialty shops or online. Some arched windows are not perfect arches and require a custom made blind.
How Much are Blinds for Arched Windows?
There are many different styles of blinds that are designed specifically for arched windows, so the price can differ a lot depending on the quality and materials, as well as the size of the blinds and the included features. Simple pleated and cellular arched window blinds can be found for as little as $60. More refined blinds for arched windows and wooden blinds can cost more than $200 each.
